Apple's Weather app is down for many users. The app shows no data when opened for any of the cities we've tried. It's acting the same way for Mashable staff in the UK and Croatia. Apple's System Status dashboard(Opens in a new tab) shows there's an "ongoing" issue with the app, starting from 5am PT on Tuesday. "Some users are affected," the notice says. "Next-hour precipitation may be unavailable for Alaska due to a data provider outage." Other Apple services and apps appear to be working normally. Apple's Weather app was completely overhauled with iOS 16 which was released in Sept. 2022, and is a result of Apple's acquisition of popular weather app Dark Sky. Apple had acquired Dark Sky in 2020, and shut the app down completely on Dec. 31, 2022. Other popular Apple services, like the App Store and Apple Music, are still working properly. Apple's support note adds that 'next-hour precipitation may be unavailable for Alaska due to a data provider outage', however the problem has persisted on all day and extends to devices further afield than Alaska. Users have taken to Twitter to express their confusion over the outage. One said: 'What the heck? #AppleWeather is down again? What is happening? I can't function without my weather.' Another added: 'Weather app is down so now I don't know what to wear for tomorrow' The official Twitter page for Apple Support is responding to disgruntled users, saying it is 'investigating the issue' and asking for them to message any questions directly.
